“I recognized that there is nothing better than to be glad and to do well during life. For every man, moreover, to eat and drink and enjoy the fruit of all his labor is a gift of God” – Ecclesiastes 3:12-13
After a death, we often ask our friends to make gifts to a favorite charity in lieu of flowers. Why not make that favorite charity the parish that has nurtured you and many others through the years? Gifts may be made to a parish endowment fund in memory of or in honor of someone special. Gifts may also be made to honor the birthday of a friend, the ordination anniversary of a priest, or to mark other special occasions in the lives of those you care about.
In addition to giving to an already established fund, families can create their own named endowment funds to honor others.
A planned gift is something anyone can do. It is simply deciding how to give an asset you already have at a later date. The easiest method of making a planned gift is by making a bequest in a Will. Your bequest can contribute to an endowment that aligns with your beliefs and values, such as your parish, school or a ministry that you have worked with or supported.
The assets you leave in your will to cash to help fund the endowment(s) of your choice. Staff will meet with you and your financial advisors to facilitate your gift.
You can explore the ways one can make a planned gift, learn how each type works and how they benefit you or your chosen organization.
