Religious Education classes are available for children in grades PK-10. Classes run from September to May each year.

Preparation for First Holy Communion is a two-year program that is completed in first and second grades. Children must complete both years of preparation before receiving First Communion.

In the summer following the second-grade year, children attend two, week-long summer camps for First Reconciliation and First Communion. These camps are hosted at the parish. Children make their first Confessions on the last day of First Reconciliation Camp. They receive their First Holy Communion at Mass the weekend after First Communion Camp.

Preparation for Confirmation is a two-year program that is completed in ninth and tenth grades. Teens must complete both years of preparation before receiving Confirmation. Additionally, Confirmation students are required to participate in an off-site, weekend retreat in the spring of the tenth-grade year. Generally, the Sacrament of Confirmation is celebrated in May.

Confirmation students must complete a total of 40 service hours. Students may begin accruing service hours in the summer after eighth grade.

Safe Environment Policy of the Archdiocese of Atlanta

In accordance with the U.S. Bishops Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People, the program Protecting God’s Children – Teaching Touching Safety (commonly referred to as “Virtus”) is used in the Archdiocese of Atlanta. Students in grades Kindergarten through 12th grade participate in one or two safety lessons in their first year and once they move the next grade group. The Safe Environment training for Adults of the Archdiocese of Atlanta includes training in how to recognize, prevent and report abuse. All employees, and volunteers who regularly work with minors, receive this initial training, as well as ongoing training and background screening. The Code of Conduct, Sexual Abuse Policy, Ministerial Standards for Clergy, Educators and all Working with Children and Vulnerable Individuals, Social Media Policy as well as the Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People are available at the diocesan website, http://www.archatl.com/ministries-services/safe-environment/grades-k-12/.
