Music Reflection – Second Sunday of Easter (Divine Mercy Sunday)
On this Second Sunday of Easter, our music gently leads us deeper into the mystery of the Risen Christ …His mercy, His Peace, and His abiding presence among us.
We begin with “Jesus Is Risen,” proclaiming with joy that death has no power over Him. This sets the tone of victory and hope that fills the entire liturgy.
In the Responsorial Psalm, “Give Thanks to the Lord for He is Good, His Love is Everlasting,” we echo the heart of Divine Mercy – God’s love that never fails, never ends, and is freely given to all.
The Gospel Acclamation reminds us of Thomas the Apostle, who moved from doubt to faith. Through him, we are blessed, for even without seeing, we are called to believe.
For our Confirmation Mass, “Veni, Creator Spiritus” becomes our prayer, inviting the Holy Spirit to descend upon the candidates, to renew, strengthen, and fill them with divine grace.
At the Offertory, “Peace I Leave With You” recalls the gift of Christ’s Peace – a Peace the world cannot give, especially meaningful as the Risen Lord greets His disciples.
In Communion, “Spirit and Grace” reflects the unity we share as one body in Christ, nourished by His presence in the Eucharist and strengthened by His Spirit.
Finally, we are sent forth with “Crown Him with Many Crowns,” glorifying Christ as our victorious King, risen and reigning in glory.
May our music not only be sung, but lived – becoming instruments of God’s mercy, peace, and love to all.
